Built from the woods up
Chalfords is a family-run operation based in Herefordshire, where the business is rooted in forestry, timber and natural materials. Our practical knowledge of woodlands, bark, timber and wood fibre now informs a wider product range for growing, landscaping, heating and outdoor cooking.
Natural materials should be made properly.
That belief sits behind everything we do.
We began with hands-on work in forestry and woodland management: understanding how woodlands grow, how timber is managed and how natural materials move from source to useful product.
Today, Chalfords brings that knowledge into the garden, home and outdoors through peat-free compost, landscaping products, kiln-dried wood fuel and specialist cooking wood.
The categories may change with the seasons. The approach does not.
Use the right material. Give it a clear purpose. Make it dependable.
Our approach
Chalfords makes the materials behind those moments.
-
Materials
We prioritise traceable, responsibly sourced inputs and avoid unnecessary ingredients that dilute their performance.
-
Performance
Each product must have a clear purpose and be made for consistent and reliable use.
-
Simple pleasures
We believe life is all about the simple pleasures. Growing your own. Creating a garden. Cooking outdoors. Gathering around a fire.
No gimmicks. No unnecessary complexity.
Made properly does not mean making the biggest claim.
It means understanding the material, controlling what can be controlled and being clear about what a product is designed to do.
It also means being honest about the evidence behind our sourcing, certification and performance statements.
